2026 - 4 Winners - $1000 each
Charlie McCrobie
Scholarship provided by the GSCD Annual Scholarship Fund
Charlie McCrobie graduated from Southern High School in May 2026. She is planning to study Agriculture Education and Extension with a minor in Animal Science. She is hoping to attend either WVU Potomac State College or Oklahoma State University.
McCrobie attended a veterinary program through Anti-Cruelty and the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine. And, as a member of Southern High School’s FFA (Future Farmers of America), she competed in Veterinary Science. She has the ELANCO Animal Science certification.
McCrobie lives on a livestock farm in Oakland. “My understanding of soil conservation comes from growing up on my family farm,” says McCrobie. “Over the years, I have noticed how changes in soil management impacts the quality of the hay we produce. Healthy soil leads to stronger crop production, stronger farms, and a more secure future for agriculture.”
McCrobie is the currently reigning Garrett County Farm Queen. She is a past FFA Treasurer, FFA Vice President, and Southern High School Class of 2026 Class Officer.
“I selected this major because it combines my passion for education and agriculture,” states McCrobie. “Agriculture is so much more to me than an industry. It is a community that teaches responsibility, leadership, and the art of hard work.”
Cristy Enlow
Scholarship provided by the GSCD Annual Scholarship Fund
Cristy Enlow is an Agriculture Business and Applied Economics major at West Virginia University, where she is a Dean’s List student.
She graduated from Potomac State College with an Associate’s degree in Agriculture Business Management.
“I have always had a deep passion for agriculture, so when making my decision to go to school, Agriculture Business just felt right,” said Enlow.
Enlow was involved with the AG and Forestry Club and the National Wild Turkey Federation Collegiate Chapter at Potomac State.
She is a member of the Garrett County Farm Bureau and the Garrett County Farm Bureau Young Farmers group. Additionally, she is a judge and volunteer with the Maryland State FFA Convention.
According to a spokesperson, Enlow is already using her education to giveback to Garrett County Agriculture by applying it to Agribusiness on her family farm and by working as a driver and sales rep for the Garrett County farmer’s coop, Garrett Growers, where she helps local farmers with expansion of cash streams for their crops.
“I have a wide array of agricultural knowledge and I am still young. I hope I can gain more knowledge throughout my life to make a stronger impact on the sustainability of future agriculture,” said Enlow.
Connor Clary
Scholarship provided by grant funds awarded to the GSCD by the Sustain Our Future Foundation
Connor Clary graduated from Northern High School in May of 2025. He plans to attend Oklahoma State College Ferguson College of Agriculture this fall.
“I plan to pursue a degree in Agribusiness Pre-Law to gain a strong foundation in agricultural economics, policy, and law,” stated Clary. “Understanding how laws and regulations impact farmers, landowners, and conservation efforts is essential to protecting agriculture’s future.”
Clary says he also aspires to teach Agricultural Education and to run for national FFA office.
“FFA has provided me with invaluable leadership experiences and a deeper understanding of agriculture’s role in society,” said Clary. “I hope to promote agricultural literacy, highlight the importance of soil and water conservation, and inspire members to become responsible stewards of our natural resources.”
Clary is a former North Garrett FFA President and Sentinel. He is a former State Vice President of the Maryland FFA Association.
He was a past president of the Oak-Hill 4-H club, a member of the Bittinger 4-H club, and a State Discussion Meet winner for Maryland Farm Bureau.
Molly Magruder
Scholarship provided by grant funds awarded to GSCD by the Sustain Our Future Foundation
Molly Magruder is a 2026 graduate of Northern High School. She lives on a sheep-breeding farm in the Lonaconing area.
Magruder plans to attend Potomac State College to study General Agriculture. She says she would like to have a career that will benefit agriculture and the environment.
Magruder completed the Agriculture Pathway in high school. She says that these classes, along with involvement in 4-H and FFA taught her the importance of agriculture and environmental stewardship.
She says they also afforded her the opportunity to hear from elected officials and their teams regarding agriculture.
“Getting the opportunity to see governmental officials in action protecting what is important inspired me,” said Magruder.
Magruder was actively involved in 4-H and FFA, holding multiple leadership positions and heading several committees.
She was the 2025 Garrett County Agricultural Fair Farm Queen and a 2025 Garrett County Farm Bureau Ag Ambassador.
She earned a certification in animal science from ELANCO Animal Health.
“Being involved with organizations like 4-H, FFA, and Farm Bureau has helped me learn more about agriculture and given me opportunities I never thought I would have,” said Magruder.
“Moving on to the next level of agriculture education is the right step for me. I want to do something that benefits agriculture, whether it be on the local, state, or national level”.
