Rental Policy

Ask to Be Added to the List – Individuals may rent the No-Till Drill or Lime Spreader by calling to be added to the list. We assign use of the equipment on a first-come, first serve basis with consideration given to the location of the drill and renters on the list in that location. In other words, if the Drill is in say, Accident, and the second person on the list is in Accident, we will let that producer use it first and then go on to the name above, still maintaining the basic order in which people have been added to the list.

Sign Contract – Producers will be asked to sign a yearly contract if renting the equipment.

You Need a Credit Card – You MUST have a credit card to rent the equipment, which you need to present prior to taking the equipment. After you have used the equipment, your card will be charged for the usage.

Pick Up the Equipment – We will let you know where the particular machine is located. You will need to pick it up there.

Take a Picture of the Meter – If you are using the No-Till Drill, take photos of the acreage meter before and after you use it with your phone and text them to us.

Clean Equipment After Use – You need to clean the equipment before you return it so that it will be ready for the next producer to use. If using the Drill clean the seed boots and seed box. There is a $350 Cleaning & Maintenance fee if the equipment is returned dirty, which you can easily avoid if you clean it. If it does come back dirty, your card will be automatically charged for the Cleaning & Maintenance fee.

Return the Equipment – Unless we tell you otherwise, please return the equipment to our office at 1916 Maryland Hwy, Mt Lake Park, MD.

Report Problems – If you have any problems with the equipment, please let us know right away.

You Are Responsible – We won’t charge you for any normal wear and tear, but if you break the equipment due to your negligence, you will have to pay for repairs.

Time Using the Drill – We do not charge per day for the Drill, but you do need to understand that there are others waiting on the list. Therefore, we expect the Drill to be returned by the day following its use. If there are unusual circumstances, you need to discuss them with us prior to taking the Drill.

Garrett County Soil Conservation District Lime and Fertilizer Spreader

Transpread 5.5 Lime Spreader

Transporting

  • Movement of the Spreader requires a tractor or truck equipped with a hitch and adequate towing capacity. Spreader weight is 3,250 lbs.
  • Raise drive wheel and secure it with a safety chain before moving.
  • Place jack in horizontal position inside frame.
  • Place hydraulic hose ends in storage bracket on frame during transport and secure slack hose.
  • Block wheels before detaching spreader from truck or tractor.

During Use

  • Never back up with the drive wheel engaged.
  • Turn off tractor before performing any maintenance or adjustments under or behind machine.
  • Disconnect the safety chain on drive wheel.
  • Connect the hydraulic hoses to the tractor (two large hoses to one valve and the single small hose to the other valve).
  • Load evenly and do not pack material with bucket. If using a skid steer, loading from both sides may be necessary. Typical spinner operating range is 500-750 RPM. Adjust hydraulic servo valve, if necessary, to regulate spinner RPM. Be careful not to pick up field stone when loading because stone damage is considered beyond normal wear and you will be responsible for repairs.
  • Boards on top of the spreader are for the protection of the hopper, not to increase load capacity.
  • Check spinner paddles for lodged stones.
  • Engage the drive unit located on the right rear wheel.
  • Drive wheel will not lower completely unless spinners are engaged.
  • Please call us if problems arise at 301-501-5886.
